.COM domains
Since different level of domains on the Internet are managed by different registries, how domains are managed and named vary from registry to registry. That being said, there are some general naming rules of domains. Let Zname walk you through it!
1.Not all characters are supported in domains, the supported ones are:
(i) 26 letters in the English alphabet: A-Z;
(ii) 10 numerics: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9;
(iii) the hyphen in English: "-".
2. English letters are case-insensitive in domains.
3. What’s the maximum and minimum length a domain can be? You can choose from 2 to 46 characters for your domain.
.CN domains
1. .cn domains Follow all general naming rules of domains.
2. In the early days, only third-level .cn domains could be registered. Starting in December 2002, CNNIC made available the registration of second-level .cn domains, allowing direct registration of domains under .cn.
3. Newly registered .cn domains after 9:00 on December 14, 2009 requires real-name authentication (relevant certificates of the registered organization and the domain contact person are needed).
4. There are certain restrictions when registering .cn domains:
(i) The registration of domains containing the words "CHINA", "CHINESE", "CN", "NATIONAL" must be officially approved by the relevant national departments (at or above the ministerial level).
(ii) The names of other countries, regions or international organizations known to the public are not allowed for registration.
(iii) The registration (whether it’s full spelling or abbreviation) of the name of an administrative region at or above the district level must be officially approved by the relevant departments at or above the district level.
(iv) Names of industries or generic commodities are not allowed for registration.
(v) Names of enterprise or brands that have been registered in China are not allowed for registration.
(vi) Names that are harmful to the country, society, or public interest are not allowed for registration.
